Healing Touch & Reiki Therapies

What is Healing Touch and Reiki?

Healing Touch

Healing Touch is based on a heart-centered caring relationship in which the practitioner and client come together energetically to facilitate the client’s health and healing.  Healing Touch is a non-invasive, non-manipulative bio-field (magnetic field around the body) therapy in which Laurie consciously, intentionally uses her hands to clear, energize and balance the human and environmental energy fields which supports and facilitates physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.

This energy therapy influences the human energy system, specifically the energy field (aura) that surrounds the body and the energy centers (chakras) that control the energy flow from the energy field to the physical body.  The goal of Healing Touch is to restore balance and harmonies in the energy system, placing the client in a position to self-heal.  Healing Touch works safely side by side with any complimentary or conventional medical protocol or treatment.

Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is another energy modality.  Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words rei and ki meaning “universal life energy.”  Reiki is based on the teachings of Dr. Mikao Usui, who was born in 1865 in Japan.  Reiki is an ancient laying-on of hands healing technique that uses the universal life force energy to heal, balancing the subtle energies within our bodies.  Much like Healing Touch, Reiki also treats the whole person-body, emotions, mind and spirit–creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security, and well-being. It, too, can work in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

How Do Healing Touch and Reiki Work?

Both energy therapies, Healing Touch and Reiki, focus on removing energy congestion that form in our energy fields (aura) and energy centers (chakras). When our energy system is off balance, the energy that usually flows through and around our bodies becomes congested. For example – pain is congested energy. When an individual has pain, the practitioner focuses on removing that energy congestion so that the pain level is reduced.  Once these imbalances and disturbances are cleared, the energy channels resume their task of integrating the body, mind and soul to restore health and promote healing.

We are integrated beings and we cannot separate the physical from the emotional, mental or spiritual aspects of ourselves.  When we are physically ill, we are also affected emotionally, mentally and spiritually.  Our body, mind, emotion and spirit are who we are as a whole person and we need to take care of that whole person. Healing Touch affects the whole person.
